AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Our After-School Programs provide a supportive and engaging environment for students to continue learning beyond the regular school day. We offer small-group classes in language, stem, and enrichment subjects, helping students strengthen academic foundations, explore new interests, and build confidence. With dedicated teachers and a focus on both skills and creativity, our after-school programs are designed to foster steady growth and a love for learning.

TRANSPORTATION

We offer an option for bus transportation daily. Our buses make stops at all WPS Elementary Schools and select Wayland/Dover elementary schools based on registrations. Additional towns may be added based on staff availability–please contact us directly for more accommodation options.

When does the program run throughout the year?

The After-School Program operates on the same schedule as the Wellesley Public Schools academic calendar. It begins on the first day of school in late August and ends on the last day of school in June.
The program is in session on all regular school days and is closed whenever Wellesley Public Schools are closed, including holidays, professional days, snow days, or emergency closures. The school year is divided into 10 periods (blocks), and families may register for one or more periods depending on their needs.

What time does the program run each day?

The After-School Program follows the Wellesley Public Schools calendar. On regular school days, classes begin right after dismissal and run until 6:00 pm.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: Program starts at 3:00 pm (regular dismissal) and ends at 6:00 pm.
Wednesday: Program starts at 12:00 pm (early release) and ends at 6:00 pm.
On certain Wednesdays when schools close early for parent-teacher conferences, the program will also open at 12:00 pm.
If Wellesley Public Schools are closed (holidays, snow days, or emergency closures), the after-school program will also be closed.

What classes are offered?

Our After-School Program provides students with a mix of Chinese language learning and a variety of enrichment classes throughout the week. Each afternoon typically includes one Chinese class plus one additional subject class. The schedule is as follows:
Monday: Dance + Chinese
Tuesday: Chinese + Music/Singing
Wednesday: Chinese + Art (with lunch and outdoor/indoor activities on early-release days)
Thursday: Chinese + Math
Friday: Chinese + Calligraphy
Chinese is taught every day, using the Ma Liping (马立平) curriculum, with students placed in different levels according to their age and language ability. Teachers also supplement lessons with practice and cultural activities to strengthen learning.
In addition to academics, the program incorporates time for lunch, outdoor play, and indoor activities (especially on Wednesdays when Wellesley public schools dismiss early). This balance of language, academics, arts, and physical activities helps students not only improve their Chinese but also develop confidence, creativity, and teamwork.

What ages does this program suit best?

Our program is open to K–5 students; however, if under unique circumstances, please contact us directly.

Is lunch provided?

Family’s must pack their own lunches or drop them off at the after school directly.

How do payments work?

There are ten payment periods to accommodate family’s changing schedules (see table above).

Discounts
Although we do not offer sibling discounts for after school, if registering for multiple periods at once, the following discounts will be applied:

2 Periods: 10% off
3 Periods: 20% off
4 Periods: 25% off
5 Periods: 30% off
6 Periods: 35% off

What is the pickup system?

We have a 30 minute pickup window (5:30–6:00). If you need to pick up your child earlier or you are unable to that day, please let your child’s teacher know in advance. **Late pickups have a fee of 1 yuan per minute.

What happens on snow days?

We follow the WPS schedule. In the case that school cancellation or an early release is decided, the after school program will not run.
